KGF's full form is Kolar Gold Field also called “Little England” and is located 30 KM from the Kolar district of Karnataka. This site is popular for gold mining. This site has a very rich history from the western Ganga dynasty to modern India.

The mine was nationalized and taken under by the Government of Mysore in 1956 and was closed on the year 28th Feb 2001 by the Government of India due to environmental and economic reasons. Till now it has provided 900 metric tonnes of Gold to the country. “Prashanth Neel“ director of the popular movie ‘KGF’, was also inspired by the Kolar gold mines and came up with the idea of making a movie on it.
