Indian Certificate of Secondary Education

ICSE full form stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education which is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Exam to provide an exam according to the well-established New Education Policy Act, 1986. This is an English medium exam that has all the subjects except Indian and foreign languages. Private candidates cannot give this examination.

It consists of 6-8 subjects which are further divided into groups. Group 1 includes one English language and one more language of students' choice and General knowledge. Group 2 includes Mathematics, Science, Environmental Science, Commercial Science, Economics, a Classical Language, and one Modern Language. Group 3 has practical or vocational-based subjects. The results are announced in form of a grading system with “Very Good” as the numerical grade ‘1’.
