EVS's full form is Environment Studies. It is the study of human interactions with the ecosystem. It is a broad field that is the combination of four pillars: Social Sciences, Economics, Humanities, and Physical Sciences which establishes a bridge between natural and man-made environments. In Environmental Studies (EVS) two degrees are provided: Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree. The students in this 3-4 years program, learn about the issues our environment is facing and how to deal with these issues by using intellectual and methodological tools.

Somewhere near the 1960s educationists and scientists were concerned about the environmental challenges which could lead to a disastrous future for their children and hence the word environment become popular and studies/courses/degrees were added in schools and colleges of the United Kingdom (UK).
