Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam

The full name of APJ Abdul Kalam is Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. He was an aerospace scientist who served as the 11th president of our country from 2002 to 2007. He was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram and died on 27th July 2015 in Shillong at the age of 83. He studied physics and aerospace engineering. After that, he spent his 40 years mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts. He also played a major role in the Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998.
